Overview

In this research, we investigated how Class F fly ash and glass fibers influence the mechanical properties of recycled aggregate concrete, exploring opportunities to reuse construction and industrial waste.

We examined 20% cement replacement with fly ash and glass fiber contents of 0.5% and 1.0% by volume, evaluating compressive, splitting tensile, and flexural strengths.

Key Findings

At 28 days, adding 0.5% glass fibers increased splitting tensile strength by 35.03% and flexural strength by 45.57% compared with the control mix, while compressive strength decreased by 19.5%. Increasing the fiber content to 1.0% reduced all three strength measures.

Among the investigated mixtures, combining 20% fly ash with 0.5% glass fibers provided the most balanced mechanical performance, highlighting the importance of selecting suitable material proportions.
