Our academic project took us to the beautiful village of Dhiprang in Kaski, Gandaki Province, where we worked on the design of a Reinforced Cement Concrete (RCC) T-girder bridge. This hands-on experience combined fieldwork, structural analysis, and collaborative teamwork, giving us practical exposure to civil structural engineering beyond the classroom.

  1. Project Name: Design of RCC T-Girder Bridge
  2. Location: Dhiprang, Kaski, Gandaki Province
  3. Coordinates: 28°21'00.3"N, 83°57'15.3"E
  4. Type of Bridge: RCC T-Girder (Beam) Bridge
  5. Design Criteria: As per Indian Standards (IS Code) & Nepal Bridge Design Code

Scope of Work

  1. Topographical & Hydrological Surveys: Conducted onsite to understand terrain, catchment areas, and flow characteristics.
  2. Geotechnical Data Collection: Obtained through the support of LRBSU (Local Road Bridge Support Unit) to assess soil conditions and bearing capacity.
  3. Bridge Component Design: Each element—from abutments to deck slab and girders—was analyzed and designed based on relevant codes and site-specific conditions.

Project Results

From the surveying, followed by design of superstructure (slab, deck, girders), bearing, and foundation substructure, we successfully completed the project.
