Hydraulic Modelling Using HEC-RAS
During our final year project for designing T-girder bridge over Dhiprang village river, we did several hydrological study, to eevaluate key aspects such as determining deck level for bridge, linear waterway, afflux, design flood, high flood level (HFL), river stage, potential scour and scour depth.
This bridge site featured a narrow, V-shaped valley with a well-defined channel and no floodplain. The river transported large boulders during floods, making hydraulic analysis essential.
We performed hydraulic simulations using HEC-RAS v6.4.1 to model the 50 year and 100 year design flood. The results, such as river stations, flow direction, X-Y-Z perspective plots, longitudinal flood profiles, and rating curves at the bridge axis, are presented in the accompanying figures.
