The concept of using natural fibers in concrete is not new. We took a similar approach by trying something new—the Himalayan Giant Nettle fiber, which has not been experimented with yet. This plant, known for its strong fibers from the stem bark, is commonly found in North Asia and has been traditionally used to make cloth.
Under the guidance of Prof. Samrat Poudel and with mentorship from Sanjog Chhetri Sapkota, we completed this exciting project. Our work was recognized and published in the Asian Journal of Civil Engineering, a well-regarded Q2-ranked journal by Springer.
This research not only adds to sustainable construction practices but also highlights the potential of an underutilized natural resource!
